What Counts as a Taco Night Recipe?
The recipes below are taco-themed in some way. It may be pizza or pasta, but they’ve all got taco flavors incorporated.
These are main dish meals, whether that’s for breakfast, lunch or dinner. No side dishes or condiments included.
No repeats. At least, we’re trying. There might be a few variations on seafood tacos – grilled fish, baja fish, chipotle salmon, etc – but we aren’t featuring 19 different versions of baked chicken tacos, for instance. It’s all about celebrating the variety and diversity of tacos! And trust me, this still could go on and on and on!
Tips for Taco Recipes
Ground meat can often be substituted to suit your tastes. My family uses ground turkey all the time. Ground beef can be subbed, just drain any extra grease. Ground chicken works too, but I would recommend not using ground chicken breast because it’s lacking in fat and flavor.
Homemade taco seasoning is really quick and easy to make and has great flavor and no weird add-ins. But nothing wrong with a packet or container from the store for convenience!
Don’t forget the toppings! Shredded cheese, avocado, sour cream/Greek yogurt, sliced green onions, chopped fresh cilantro, hot sauce, etc. Pick and choose your favorites.
Add sides if you like. Many taco recipes are filling enough on their own – particularly with enough toppings! However, you can add a side salad or slaw or serve with rice and beans if you need to round out your meal.
